Position Title: Facilities Engineer
Reports to: Head of Engineering and Planning / Sr. Operations Manager / Operations Manager

2. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and building systems across the organization’s property portfolio. The role ensures that facilities are well maintained, energy efficient, and compliant with UAE regulations and organizational standards. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, the role contributes to preventive and corrective maintenance, contractor coordination, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Direct Reports: None (may guide supervisors or technicians on specific tasks if assigned)
  • Total Reports: Individual contributor role

4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Key Accountabilities

  • Support day-to-day operations and maintenance of MEP and building systems.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development and execution of preventive and corrective maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate with outsourced service providers to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Prepare inspection reports and escalate technical issues to senior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, HSE standards, and organizational policies.
  • Contribute to energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain technical records, drawings, and documentation of facilities operations.
  • Support small-scale projects and upgrades of facility systems.
  • Participate in emergency response and incident resolution when required.

  • Internal: Senior MEP Engineer, Senior Civil/Electrical Engineers, Operations, QA.
  • External: FM service providers, contractors, consultants, regulatory authorities.

7. CONTEXT, WORK ENVIRONMENT & DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • Operates under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Provides technical input but major decisions are escalated.
  • No budget authority but contributes to efficient service delivery through inspections and reporting.

8. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports cost efficiency by identifying defects early and ensuring timely maintenance.
  • Helps optimize vendor performance to avoid rework and unnecessary expenses.

9. SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Facilities Engineering.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in facilities engineering, maintenance, or construction.
  • Knowledge of MEP and building systems maintenance.
  • Familiarity with outsourced vendor management.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, LEED, CFM).
  • Experience with smart building systems and CAFM software.
