1. JOB DETAILS:

Position Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Reports to: Senior Commercial Manager
Division: Commercial
Department: Projects Commercial


2. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor leads cost planning, contract administration, and commercial control for assigned construction and development projects. The role is responsible for accurate forecasting, managing commercial risks, evaluating claims, and guiding junior QS staff to ensure project delivery within budget and contract terms.

4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee cost estimates, BOQs, and tender submissions for complex project scopes.
  • Lead financial management across project lifecycles, including budgeting, valuation, and reporting.
  • Review, assess, and approve contractor valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Provide strategic commercial input on procurement, contractual risks, and value engineering.
  • Supervise and mentor junior quantity surveyors, ensuring quality and accuracy of work.
  • Support dispute resolution and negotiation processes with contractors and consultants.
  • Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and internal commercial policies.

6. CONTEXT, WORK ENVIRONMENT AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:

  • Hybrid office and project site presence; high coordination across project functions.
  • Makes independent decisions on valuations, claims, and commercial recommendations within delegated authority.

7. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manages commercial performance of multi-million-dirham project budgets.
  • Directly influences cost containment, claims management, and final account resolution.

8. SELECTION CRITERIA:

Qualifications and Experience (Essential):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 6–8 years of experience in quantity surveying, including UAE project exposure
  • Strong command of contract law, FIDIC conditions, and commercial negotiations

(Desirable):

  • Professional certification (e.g., MRICS, PMP)
  • Experience with cost management software and ERP systems
